THE GENESIS

Our Story

In 2021, our founder, Olusegun Tinubu, had the privilege of volunteering with a foundation that was partnering with the firm where he worked. The role involved interviewing and assessing high school students who were preparing to transition into college.

The interviews were conducted in groups, designed not just to test academic knowledge, but to observe something deeper: how these students collaborated, communicated, their level of focus, and the leadership instincts they showed when placed in a shared space. At the end of the process, volunteers made recommendations on which students should receive scholarships.

Since that transformative experience, the founder carried a quiet but persistent dream: to build a foundation in his hometown that identifies brilliant secondary school students from low-income and middle-class families and ensures that neither financial hardship nor lack of mentorship stands in the way of their future.

Conversations began with friends, questions were asked, feedback was listened to, and thoughtful advice and encouragement were received. Connections were made with fellow founders doing similar work across Nigeria. Every conversation helped refine the thinking and shape the model being built today.

In 2026, the first real step was taken: The Zenith Cohorts Scholar Foundation was officially registered.
